About me
I have over 10 years photographic experience initially working as a portrait/social photographer for two companies in Cardiff, undertaking work for numerous organisations including Hairdressers Journal, Health and Beauty Magazine, Elemis Spa Resources (Middle East), Camelot plc., Vale of Glamorgan Council, Vibe Multimedia Experience and the R.N.L.I. to name just a few. My interest evolved into current events and social issues so I decided to study the world reknown Documentary Photography Degree at Newport University, Wales to reinforce that interest and integrity as a documentary photographer, producing work for Big Issue Magazine, BBC 2 Wales, Birmingham Pride Festival, Stage Coach - Bristol and Practical photographer Magazine. I also have been awarded a 'Licentiateship' by the British Institute of Professional Photography and also by the Master Photographer's Association. In addition to this, I am a full member of the Royal Photographic Society.
I started on the wedding photographer scene as an assistant working my way up to official wedding photographer. Initially working exclusively with medium format and 35mm film. I have now converted to pro digital, exclusively.
I also submit work to Alamy Picture Library and will soon be submitting work to Getty Images.
In addition to this, my work has diversified once again, branching out into a completely different direction…A very dark one indeed. This new area of work covers all areas of alternative lifestyle portariture. This work is featured on my other website and can be viewed HERE.
I am available for model portfolios, family or couple portraiture, single portrait sessions, alternative lifestyle weddings (10% discount available), band promotional portraiture, events, including gigs (£50/ 1 hour session) events, magazine work, film stills, and corporate portariture.
How I work: I like to use locations instead of a studio setting as the locations are a lot more fascinating and varied. For studio work I use two Bowens 500 lamps with a soft box and umbrella. This is a portable set up which works great for most of my studio work. A permanent studio is too costly to set up and maintain. I use a Canon 5D with a selection of lenses and 550 EX flash. For the location photography I like to use ambient lighting with the help of a 6 foot reflector and some fill-in flash.
Please feel free to contact me regarding a session or to discuss possible ideas. I'd love to here from you!
